Nicholas Smith

Bachelor of Contemporary Performance at Australian Institute of Music

All the instruments I teach and their level:

Saxophone - Advanced

The styles of music I specialize in are:

  • Jazz

Voluntarily teaching saxophone at Ringwood Secondary College.

Been in stage bands as first tenor and first alto, I have played in theatrical shows, I have played in concert bands, I have done recitals for year 12, I have done solo performances as well.

Someone who is patient and will try everything/answer anything that I need to do/say/answer until he/she understands because everyone has their different learning styles and everyone has their different paces.

The reason why I wanted to become a teacher is one; I wanted to teach the next generation of musicians and second; to give back what I have learnt from being a student.

I have received Conductors awards, best woodwind player, I have done 3 AMEB exams for keyboard, I have also received a High Achievement award for Year 12 music.

The music I like to listen to is definitely jazz but the people/bands I like to listen to are Michael Brecker, John Coltrane, Chris Potter, Miles Davis, Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band and Sonny Rollins.
